Dr. Ashwani Maichand has a wealth of orthopaedic experience, including over a decade dedicated to joint reconstruction. In 1987, he began his career at the Govt. Medical College in Rohtak. Following graduation, he attended S M S Medical College in Jaipur for postgraduate studies.

About Me

Working as Senior Consultant and Head, Minimal Access Orthopaedic Surgery (Knee & Shoulder Division), Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh. He also serves as an honorary consultant with the Special Protection Group (SPG).

Dr. Maichand had the privilege of working with masters of joint replacement and arthroscopy in India and abroad throughout his post-MS period. He received his M Ch from the American Institute of Medicine in 2009.

He has conducted over 6,000 joint replacement and arthroscopic surgeries to date.Prior to joining Fortis Hospital, he was a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi and the Head of Joint Replacement at B.L.K Super Specialty Hospital in New Delhi.

Specialty Areas:

  1. Primary hip and knee replacement (cemented, non-cemented, hybrid, ceramic, and hi-flex)
  2. Hip and knee revision and complex replacement (post-traumatic, post-infection, failed primary, congenital deformities, etc.)
  3. Advanced Arthroscopic Procedures (ACL/PCL Reconstruction, Rotator Cuff Reconstruction, Bankart's Repair, Slap Repair, Elbow/Wrist/Ankle Arthroscopy)
  4. Limb Salvage Surgery (For Oncology Patients With Tumours Around Major Joints), which includes the following procedures:
  5. Proximal / Distal Femur Replacement, Total Femur Replacement, Proximal Tibial Replacement, Pelvic Reconstruction.
  6. Dr. Maichand is also interested in the MIS (Minimal Invasive Surgery) technique for joint replacements.
He has a lot of experience.and a well-coordinated team comprised of a geriatric anesthesiologist, a trained surgical team, experienced rehabilitation professionals, and well-dressed nursing staff. This team handles all of the needs of joint replacement patients, from the time they arrive at the hospital until the time they leave.
