Dr. Lokesh Kumar has served on the boards of several organisations both in India and overseas. He has served as President of the Indian Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and Treasurer of the Indian Association of Plastic Surgeons. He now serves as the National Secretary of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and is a member of the ISAPS Education Council and Communications Committee. He is a member of the editorial board of the prestigious Aesthetic Surgery publication USA, the official publication of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He also serves on the editorial board of ISAPS News. In 2011-12, he was an Ethicon Professor of Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr. Kumar has assumed responsibility for establishing a Plastic Surgery Centre of Excellence at Dr. B L Kapur Memorial Hospital in New Delhi.
