About Me

Dr. Lal is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Medicine, the Royal College of Physicians in Canada, the Indian College of Cardiology, and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions in the United States. Dr. Lal holds the distinction of being the first to introduce a large number of procedures in the field of Interventional Cardiology in the country (he has more than twenty 'firsts' to his credit), including Slow Rotational Angioplasty, Coronary Atherectomy, diamond drilling of arteries (Rotablator), Non-Surgical Closure of Heart Hole, Non-Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement, and others.Dr. Lal has created innovative ways for Aortofemoral Bypass Support (Partial Artificial Heart) and opening tight heart valves using Echo without the need of a catheter. For the first time in the world, he accomplished Non-Surgical Heart Hole Closure (ASD) using Monodisc Device and Aortic Valve Replacement with Core Valve. His name has appeared on multiple occasions in the Limca Book of World Records.

Awards:

• Rajiv Gandhi International Excellence Award 1990 Jawaharlal Nehru International Excellence Award 1991
• The Cardiological Society of India has awarded the Dr. V V Shah Oration Gold Medal. In 2002, the Delhi Medical Association bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Award on him.
• Padma Bhushan was awarded in 2003.
• Padma Vibhushan in 2009 for "Distinguished Achievement Award" Dr. B C Roy National Award for Innovations in Interventional Cardiology 
• "of the Highest Order" by the National Body of the Indian Medical Association for completing the most angioplasties/stenting procedures in the country as a single operator.
• Several times listed in the ""Limca Book Of World Records"".
• The title of World's Greatest Leader was bestowed to him at the 2015 India-UAE Business Summit.
• Shri Kalraj Mishra, Governor of Rajasthan, bestowed the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (Medicine) at the convocation ceremony of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences in Jaipur in 2022.
